Things I learned from being quarantined

My first couple of weeks into quarantine were really difficult and anxious, it was hard to get things done but then after a while, I started to realize that I’m learning new things and discovered new ways to deal with problems and routine.

So I made a shortlist of the things that I started to do and learned during being quarantined:

Staying healthy and in shape without a gym 💪

I would say the gym was one of the best parts of my day and I haven’t left the gym for more than a month during the past 3 years, thanks to COVID-19 one of the first things to close was the gyms and I couldn’t handle the idea of working out at home especially without any equipment but after a week I started to do some home workouts which didn’t give me the pump or even motivated me so I felt down and my muscles began to feel flat but luckily I found this water bottle which is heavy enough to do some workouts and with the help of Instagram fitness influencers I got a pretty good amount of exercises and now I’m working out with this water bottle and body weight and feeling kinda satisfied overall 💪.

The 5L water bottle AKA my dumbbells

So now I learned to do a full-body workout with no special equipment which I couldn’t discover without being stuck at home for this time.

Still wishing I can get back to the gym tho.

The power of remote work 👨‍💻

Just before quarantine, I started a new job @Re:Coded as a trainer for online coding Bootcamp and with people not being able to get together it was really difficult to think of doing this Bootcamp online, we waited with a hope that things will open back soon but the reality was things will not so we started working online and I can tell you, it was really hard, way harder than in-person but after a while, we started to get used to it we started to find new ways to accommodate this environment and not only that we started to create an online community with all the amazing people in it, also, finding new ways of doing activities and our way of handling everything, so this situation changed a lot in our organization and our look at online Bootcamps, I couldn’t think of how powerful can the remote work and online communication be.

I can really cook now! 👨‍🍳

I love cooking and food, I lived alone for a while so I used to cook myself some meals but most of them were small microwave meals, now with that free time at night and trying to use the time to learn new things, living with my family especially with my mom (she is an amazing chef!) I learned a lot from her and started to cook some decent meals 🍽.

It’s so nice to be able to make yourself a good meal and enjoy it after.

Breaking the routine 💭🎯

one of the most difficulties I faced during quarantine was having the same routine every single day and it got really boring after a while which made me think of new ways to break the routine, so I started to add and remove changes to my day and one thing I focused on a lot was to try and not do the same thing every day which honestly is hard during these days, I began to make my home workouts every other day instead of every day same as watching a tv series, every time I finish a season I would take a break to watch a movie or not even watch anything, went into walks with a friend once a week (we kept distance), I have university too so I was studying every other day which is a type of change too, one thing I loved a lot was that my current job allowed me to get to know new people which was awesome since I got to ask them how they spend their days and aspire some stuff from them!

Tended to change my work setup almost every day, and YES! I don’t have a desk

So This is how it went I just kept adding and removing stuff from my day and tried to be creative with adding things I’ve never done before too.

Connecting with family and friends like never before 📞📱

I always had a very good close relationship with my family they mean everything to me and now I’m staying with them but usually, my connection with other friends and family members wasn’t always the best so with quarantine and thanks to all the social and communication apps it is easier than ever to call someone in the other side of the world and have a lovely afternoon laughing with them about how you were a chatty child, so now as I knew how nice and cool those calls are, I try to get some time for them.

It’s actually pretty cool to have a couple of minutes to catch up with someone you haven’t talked to in months.

These are some of the things I learned, hope you could use one of them or just enjoyed the reading 😃.

Writing blogs or articles are one of the things to get me out of routine and be creative.
